Fees and Insurance

Fees

I would be glad to discuss my fees with you. I make every attempt to consider financial needs and to offer an affordable rate. I offer some sliding-scale fees as well.

Insurance

In an effort to provide affordable psychotherapy services, I belong to a number of insurance panels (what is referred to as an "in-network provider"). I have listed those insurance companies below. Managed health care is, of course, constantly changing these days. Because many people through their employers or individual plans have insurance, I have made it a point to be available to them should they wish to use their benefit. In order to help people in making the very personal choice about utilizing their insurance to cover psychotherapy services, I'd like to share some of my experience.

It used to be that many plans would cap at 20 or 30 visits for the calendar year. That does not seem to be the case any longer: many insurance plans have moved to unlimited services for individual and couples therapy. Plans (with the exception of EAP coverage) have copayments; the member pays the copayment each session and I bill the insurance company for their portion. In some case there may be a deductible.

All insurance companies require a diagnosis in order to process claims. In addition, from time to time they may conduct a telephone review about the treatment. In all cases, while I am obliged to provide the necessary information sought, I also make it a point to protect my client's confidentiality. To this extent, I provide only the necessary information. I am very willing to discuss with my clients the uses of and any restrictions to information that I share with their insurance company. It is my understanding that the insurance company is also mandated to protect the confidentiality of its members' information.

I am an in-network provider (except where indicated) for the insurance companies listed below. For plans not listed, a member may be able to use their out-of-network benefit for reimbursement. I encourage people to contact their insurance providers for more information.
